The Zouk, Lebanon-based masterbatch and additives producer will use its new management system to drive initatives and corrective actions.

On 5 March 2008, Lloyd's Register audited and approved Micro Epsilon in its quest for ISO 9001:2000 certification. Micro Epsilon was established in 2003 as a division of Masterpak sal and member of INDEVCO Group. It operates independently in Zouk Industrial Zone to produce white and color masterbatches, as well as an array of additives, for plastics converters.

Emile Georgi, INDEVCO Quality Assurance Manager, managed the certification process with Tony El Chayeb, Micro Epsilon General Manager, and Jean Marc Azzi, Micro Epsilon Quality Assurance representative.

El Chayeb explains,

"First, we now have a common ground to continue building and improving our operation, with the system driving initiatives and corrective actions. Second, we've greatly improved our quality and consistency by initiating new procedures and by improving our processes. Everyone at Micro Epsilon was fully committed. The energy! It was great to see how hard the team worked to achieve certification."

The ISO 9001:2000 certification is in effect for the next 3 years, with Lloyd's Register auditing Micro Epsilon on a biannual basis.
