Iraqi Delegation Visits MASTERPAK Polyethylene Film Plant

MASTERPAK shares agricultural and horticultural film expertise with Iraqi ministry officials and professors to strengthen and support the Iraqi agricultural sector.

Officials from the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture and University of Baghdad Dean of the College of Agriculture and professors from the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering visited Lebanese PE film manufacturer, MASTERPAK, on 29-30 June 2010.

MASTERPAK produces
geomembranes, grapevine cover film, greenhouse film, ground cover film, hay bale plastic, hydroponic gully film, low tunnel film, mulch film, protective bags for banana cultivation, silage film, and soil disinfection film.

Day 1: MASTERPAK Orientation & Plant Tour

On the first day of the visit, the program included about mother company, INDEVCO, and met with MASTERPAK management and agricultural experts, and took a plant tour:

Moubarak welcomed the Iraqi visitors and emphasized the mutual importance of establishing relationships with Iraqi agricultural experts. Sharing know-how would support the Iraqi agricultural sector.

Sfeir states,

Plant Tour

Nayef Ghaith organized a tour of the Zouk Mosbeh manufacturing plant and quality control laboratory.

Day 2: Field Visit & Corrugated Sister-Company Plant Tour

On the second day, Sfeir escorted the Iraqi delegation on a field visit about advanced greenhouse technologies in the Batroun region of Lebanon. Delegates learned about installation of greenhouse covers, plant growth control, and fully automated control systems for plant fertilization and aeration.

The group then visited Unipak corrugated packaging manufacturer in Halat, Lebanon to learn about the advantages of corrugated packaging for the agricultural sector.

Unipak produces open-top trays, corrugated trays for packing and dispensing vegetables and fruit, top-and-bottom corrugated boxes for packing fresh produce, and corrugated bulk bins for fresh produce.
