INDEVCO Hosts Annual General Executive Meeting

Top executives from the multinational group gathered at the 4th Annual General Executive Meeting (GEM) discuss past year’s successes, areas for improvement, and projections for 2011.

GEM 4 brought together around 260 of the top executives from across INDEVCO's administration, Paper Containers, Flexible Packaging, Consumer Products, and Paper Making divisions and plants in Egypt, England, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia. GEM 4 took place in Bethania Conference Center in Harissa, Lebanon on 29 December 2010.




Neemat Frem, President & CEO of INDEVCO Group, presented the opening speech, in which he lauded exemplary successes in a year defined by global economic instability.

Frem congratulated INDEVCO Paper Making division for it's record year and INDEVCO Flexible Packaging division for it's substantial growth in 2010. He discussed the opening of new plants, new ventures, and INDEVCO’s increasing workforce, now employing 8500 people worldwide.

Frem covered group efforts to be taken to tackle the economic and currency challenges in 2011 by developing aggressive yet realistic business plans for 2011. He ended his speech by introducing the four speakers of this year's meeting.

GEM 4 Speaker Sessions

Dr. Hanna Saad, INDEVCO Flexible Packaging Executive Vice President, discussed the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), regional trends, changes in the role of crude oil and chemical and petrochemical products in the 21st century, as well as regions and products INDEVCO serves.

Dani Khoury, INDEVCO Paper Containers Center for Technical Excellence (CTE) and Chadi Radi, INDEVCO Flexible Packaging Center for Technical Excellence (CTE), took the stand and presented achievements and scope of work of their centers. They highlighted methods to transfer know-how and implement Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Khoury covered housekeeping 5S methodology according to 5S guidance and audit, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) monitoring, and equipment condition monitoring based on Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) condition. Radi discussed re-engineering plant performance to create value for the customer and went over the index that refelcts this improvement in quality culture.

Hobeika Hobeika, Director of INDEVCO Internal Audit Department, discussed how to safeguard the assets of an organization. He explained the importance of audits to reflect the efficiency of the internal system, compliance with company policies, and organizational effectiveness translating into financial statements.

Finally, Dr. Ellen Feghali, Director of INDEVCO Online Communications Unit (OCU), offered a visual presentation emphasizing the rapid changes in technology since 1995, the year the Internet went global, and how INDEVCO business units must adapt accordingly.

In addition to highlighting OCU digital services available to all business units in the group, Feghali also presented three main initiatives for 2011: Cross-media management project with Mediapak, INDEVCO’s in-house media agency; INDEVCO ACE (Attaining Customer Excellence) Program with INDEVCO Lead Generation Unit; and development of INDEVCO Content Hub to support B2B lead nurturing.
