MASTERPAK Collects 1 Ton of Plastic for ‘100 Wheelchairs’ Campaign

MASTERPAK and INDEVCO Group contribute to the purchase of a wheelchair for a physically-disabled Lebanese citizen.

MASTERPAK, polyethylene film manufacturer in Zouk Mosbeh, Lebanon, joined Arcenciel’s ‘100 Wheelchairs’ campaign back in June 2009. Since joining, MASTERPAK has collected one MT of plastic caps with the support, collaboration, and contribution of INDEVCO Group member companies in Lebanon.

The ‘100 Wheelchairs’ campaign aims to raise enough recyclable plastic caps to purchase 100 wheelchairs for physically-disabled persons in Lebanon. For every half million plastic caps (approximately one MT), the non-profit organization can purchase one wheelchair.

This initiative not only helps purchase wheelchairs for those in need but also helps the environment by promoting recycling efforts. Thus, the campaign is in line with INDEVCO Group philosophy

MASTERPAK has now begun collecting plastic caps for the purchase of the second wheelchair. A collection container is available on each floor of the manufacturing plant. Caps are sent every Friday to Arcenciel.

Plastic caps suitable for recycling include:

  • Beverage containers: water, milk, soda plastic caps, etc…

  • Food containers: oil, spreads (nutella, peanut butter, etc…) plastic caps, etc…

  • Detergent containers: cleaning solutions, liquid laundry soaps, bleach plastic caps, etc…

  • Hygiene containers: shampoo, toothpaste, shower gel plastic caps, etc…
