Uniplast Launches Compound Filler Production

For OUTBOUND home page, go to http://outbound.indevcogroup.com

Uniplast provides high-quality, eco-friendly filler grade material for local and international markets.

Uniplast, located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, launched compound filler production during Q1 2011 and is currently offering interested parties samples for onsite trials. The filler is environmentally-friendly as it reduces polymer consumption and is recyclable, in addition it is economical.

The polyethylene (PE) film manufacturer currently offers two filler grades, Com 70C and Com 77C, with differing percentages of CaCO3 loading.

To manufacture this compound filler, Uniplast installed a new machine in its Recom division, providing a production capacity of more than 800 MT/month. The compound filler increases dart drop and tear resistance, in turn increasing overall line speed.

Compound filler is suitable in high density, medium density, linear low and low density polyethylene (PE). Compound filler is a direct replacement of virgin linear low density PE (LLDPE) and low density PE (LDPE) material and can be used, up to 30%, in the product blend depending on process and application. Furthermore, the filler acts as an anti-blocking additive for LLDPE and LDPE.

Benefits of Compound Filler for Various PE Films

Compound filler is used in various types of PE films, offering many different characteristics and benefits. The filler is mainly used in tube extrusion, injection molding, plastic cores, geo membranes, sheet extrusion, thermoforming and film extrusion.

Compound filler in blown film extrusion, enhances film quality and improves productivity by reducing the melt pressure in the extruder. The filler also improves bubble stability and thickness profile.
Furthermore, compound filler in printing increases permanent film surface tension and reduces the need for corona treatment. In addition, the high conductivity of compound filler helps reduce sealing time or sealing bar temperature.

Uniplast manufactures PE packaging and films, including food storage bags, manual stretch film, machine stretch film, pallet covers/ top sheets, refuse sacks (trash bags) and disposable table covers. The manufacturer has also begun trial productions on Oxo-Biodegradable plastics.
