Two-Phase ISO 9001:2008 Certification Assessment

Interstate Paper Industries underwent phase 1 and 2 of the ISO 9001:2008 audit, on 28 July and 2-3 August 2011 respectively. The audit covered all the relevant processes, objectives and operations of Interstate Paper Industries management system.

The ISO 9001:2008 audit, conducted by Dr. Mohamed Abolfadl, BSI Egypt General Manager; Mohamed Hassanin, BSI Lead Assessor; and Adel Farag, BSI Team Member, revealed high quality standards at Interstate Paper Industries. No non-conformities were identified.

The objective of the certification assessment was to ensure that the organization's management system addresses effectively all elements of the proposed scope of registration and management standard requirements.

BSI EMEA is among the world’s leading certification bodies, developing national and international standards, assessing and certifying management systems, products and services, as well as providing training services in over 120 countries. [3]

Emile Boustany, Interstate Paper Industries General Manager, explains,

The ISO 9001:2008 certificate demonstrates Interstate Paper Industries team’s hard work and commitment. The road to achieving ISO certification has been long but the results are rewarding.

The journey began 2 years ago following a top management decision to develop a robust quality management system (QMS). The system brought great improvements in operations on various levels, ranging from finance and procurement to customer service, production, maintenance, technical, quality and shipping.

Under the leadership of the Quality Management Representative, Interstate Paper Industries team members designed the entire system in-house. Furthermore, the certification process required hard work, patience, and total commitment from all employees.

We look forward to implementing other quality management systems as well, such as ISO 18001 and Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC). This is in line with our company vision to turn Interstate Paper Industries into an outstanding tissue mill in the Middle East and Africa.

Interstate Paper Industries in Sadat City, Egypt manufactures virgin and recycled jumbo parent tissue reels for converters of household tissue, away-from-home tissue and personal care hygiene disposables in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (MENA).
