New Adhesive Film Used to Bond Aluminium Composite ‘Sandwich Panels’

For OUTBOUND home page, go to http://outbound.indevcogroup.com

The Middle East building and construction industry is turning to Napco Modern Sack Division to procure PE adhesive film for bonding aluminum sheet cladding materials.

The product development team at Napco Modern Plastics Products Company – Sack Division in Dammam, Saudi Arabia has worked with DuPont™ polymer specialists to develop an innovative adhesive film for the Arabian construction industry.

The polyethylene bonding film, manufactured in rolls of between 30 and 150 microns, is sandwiched between two sheets of smooth 0.5 mm aluminum to create an aluminium composite panel. These panels, known as sandwich panels, are in high demand as decorative external cladding for buildings, as well as internal décor.

The PE adhesive film ensures that aluminum composite panels remain durable and trouble-free after installation.[1]

Advantages of Aluminium Composite Panels in Construction

Aluminum composite panels are used as attractive external building materials, as well as internal décor for shopping malls, commercial structures, and other high rises for a number of reasons.

Environmentally Friendly
Aluminium composite panels do not harm the environment due to non-toxic properties. The fully recyclable, sound proof materials save energy by providing excellent heat insulation and decrease noise pollution

Durable Material
Aluminum composite panels are strong, durable and resistant to weather, chemicals, corrosion and fire. Furthermore, panels are large, rigid and flat yet highly formable.

Easy Installation and Maintenance
Light weight, easily cut and shaped aluminium composite panels are thus conveniently installed.

In addition to the building and construction industry, Napco Modern Plastics Products Company - Sack Division produces PE films and bags for the agricultural, chemical, and petrochemical industries.

Napco Modern Sack Division is a Napco company a member of INDEVCO Flexible Packaging, a division of INDEVCO Group.

Unipak Nile Implements Lean Manufacturing Principles

For OUTBOUND home page, go to http://outbound.indevcogroup.com

Egyptian corrugated packaging manufacturer improves company performance by initiating implementation of World Class Operations Management (WCOM™) system.

In line with the goal to reach a smooth stream of operations, Unipak Nile named its World Class Operations Management (WCOM™) system ‘Al-Ghadir’ or ‘stream’ in Arabic.

In ‘Al-Ghadir’, lean manufacturing principles reduce scraps and reworks, generating sustainable savings. The WCOM™ system ensures a smooth process flow, zero defects and breakdowns. It also balances time between various operations and manages work in process (WIP).

‘Al- Ghadir’ is being jointly implemented by INDEVCO Paper Container Division Center for Technical Excellence (CTE), Solving Efeso international strategy consultants, and a local Egyptian consultancy, Hands-On.

Phases of 'Al-Ghadir' WCOM™ System

WCOM’s three phases improve company performance: preparation, pilot, and expansion. The system improves operations and operation management by increasing productivity, quality and know-how, as well as reducing total cost, WIP, scraps and reworks.

Unipak Nile, currently in the preparation phase, is evaluating the gap between actual and ideal operational performances. This allows Unipak Nile, Solving Efeso and Hands-On to define areas for improvement and identify ‘Pilot Projects’ that will be executed in the 2nd phase.

Unipak Nile manufactures boxes, trays, and other corrugated packaging for the agricultural, beverage, catering, dairy, hygiene disposables, industrial, petro/chemical, processed food, paramedical, soap and detergent industries.

Unipak Nile in 6th October City, Egypt, is a member of INDEVCO Paper Containers, a division of INDEVCO Group.

MASTERPAK Collects 1 Ton of Plastic for ‘100 Wheelchairs’ Campaign

For OUTBOUND home page, go to http://outbound.indevcogroup.com

MASTERPAK and INDEVCO Group contribute to the purchase of a wheelchair for a physically-disabled Lebanese citizen.

MASTERPAK, polyethylene film manufacturer in Zouk Mosbeh, Lebanon, joined Arcenciel’s ‘100 Wheelchairs’ campaign back in June 2009. Since joining, MASTERPAK has collected one MT of plastic caps with the support, collaboration, and contribution of INDEVCO Group member companies in Lebanon.

The ‘100 Wheelchairs’ campaign aims to raise enough recyclable plastic caps to purchase 100 wheelchairs for physically-disabled persons in Lebanon. For every half million plastic caps (approximately one MT), the non-profit organization can purchase one wheelchair.

This initiative not only helps purchase wheelchairs for those in need but also helps the environment by promoting recycling efforts. Thus, the campaign is in line with INDEVCO Group philosophy

“What is good for the community is good for the company. What is good for the company, we will strive to do excellently and in a way that enriches the lives of our
people…

MASTERPAK has now begun collecting plastic caps for the purchase of the second wheelchair. A collection container is available on each floor of the manufacturing plant. Caps are sent every Friday to Arcenciel.

Plastic caps suitable for recycling include:

  • Beverage containers: water, milk, soda plastic caps, etc…

  • Food containers: oil, spreads (nutella, peanut butter, etc…) plastic caps, etc…

  • Detergent containers: cleaning solutions, liquid laundry soaps, bleach plastic caps, etc…

Sustainability at Interstate Resources: Evergreen Community Power – Power to the Mill, Power to the People

For OUTBOUND home page, go to http://outbound.indevcogroup.com

Interstate Resources has published a series of PDF files about the U.S. corrugated manufacturing group's sustainability efforts. Download this story at:
http://www.interstateresources.com/PDF/Interstate-Resources-Evergreen-Community-Power.pdf

Challenge:

Spiraling utility costs combined with imminent federal government deregulation and environmental concerns were catalysts to find a cost-effective, sustainable energy solution to power United Corrstack paper mill in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Solution:

Interstate Resources created Evergreen Community Power, a massive $140 million commitment to developing a solution. Evergreen Community Power creates “green” energy independence for the paper mill, reduces the load to local landfills, produces enough electricity to export energy to the regional PJM power grid and provides local jobs.

Carbon monoxide (CO) emissions produced by biomass combustion is 23 times less damaging than the methane emissions from landfills. Energy is produced from the steam turbine and burning organic materials, such as wood and agricultural waste.

This thermal- and emissions-efficient, environmentally friendly biomass boiler:

  • Generates steam and electricity from renewable resources

  • Uses 900 tons of biomass daily

  • Generates 30 megawatts of electricity which was previously produced by a large utility using fossil fuels

  • Removes 60 truckloads of biomass waste daily from landfills, including organic materials as wood construction debris and agricultural waste

  • Reduces CO emissions from fossil fuel combustion

  • Eliminates methane emissions by avoiding landfill disposal

Interstate Resources provides products made with green energy, helping customers with today’s sustainability concerns and carbon reduction accountability. Evergreen Community Power allows the paper mill to provide their Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certified, 100% recycled corrugating medium at a very competitive price in a challenging category where product variant differentiators are significant.

Capabilities:

Evergreen Community Power – 900 tons of biomass and recycled wood products used daily to power the new boiler and steam turbine.
